Unity Friends With Flair

Hey there!  TGIF!

This morning I had nothing to post for UNITY FWF and wanted to.  So I decided to do a little art journaling.  My thought (this was from the other day) is to get back doing some art journaling on a smaller level.  I had a "sketch" book on hand that was size 4x6 and the other day I used some stamps to create a 2 page spread in that book.  I covered the outside cover and decided I would make that book exclusive to the stamps of that line I used which was MFT.  Then I thought oh I can just turn this book around and open it from the back and make that for Unity!

Ok so well in the end I got a second 4x6 book that I will dedicate for art journaling using Unity Stamps.  It will be a place to experiment as well.

This is the book I get my journals from Jerry's Artarama there is one local to me which is great.

Ok so here is the page I just did and it only took a few minutes!

I took a few pics along the way to share as well:

Great way to see how awesomely HUGE Unity Stamps are it's too big for this page.

I wanted to color the butterfly but didn't want to really spend time coloring.  I used a water brush and dipped it into my spray - Lindy Stamp Gang's Spray - and colored with that!  Works great and gives a water color look.  It's also a fast way to add color.

All colored and the sprays I used to color with.

I use matte gel to adhere and seal my projects

A SU stencil to add some subtle hearts over the project

I hope you enjoyed this fun and simple project!  If you are a card maker and wonder about art journaling I say start small because you are used to small from making cards.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Stamp Storage

I love taking boxes and repurposing them.  Here is one I did this week using a K cup Trader Joe's box:

I made this to store My Favorite Things stamps and dies.  My collection is not huge YET but for now this works great!  I HAD to add the pink fluff which is from Webster Pages!

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge

We  were supposed to get a blizzard but in the end got about 8 -9 inches of snow.  But we are staying in regardless so I decided to play along with the MFT Sketch Challenge.

Here is what I came up with using Sprinkler Girl which may be an old one now, I used a scallop border die that is MFT but I don't think it's current.  I hope it's ok to use older sets for the challenge.

Hearts a Flutter

Here is what I created using Heart Framelit dies from SU:

I layered them using dimensional dots, used a heart embossing folder on most.  The sentiment is from Unity Stamp Co and the "gems" are Dew Drops.  Then I added white dots using the Ranger Signo Pen on the scallops.

With the base being black I added a red heart inside:

I am also entering this into the current TIME OUT CHALLENGE going on.

Check out what our Design Team Created using this fun photo:

Unity Friends with Flair Friday!

TGIF and time for Unity Friends with Flair!  I didn't get a chance last night or earlier in the week to make something so I decided this afternoon I wanted to get a little inky with Unity stamps.

Here is a simple card I whipped up in just a few minutes:

SO it's pretty simple nothing outrageously fancy but sometimes simplicity is perfect.  Here I used one of Unity Stamp Co's Angie Girls called Kimmie Girl.  The super talented Angie Bloom draws these gals for Unity check it out!  While you are over there also check out this weekends Garage Sale going one you don't want to miss it.  I got my order in!  Seriously stamps less than a dollar! I kid you not!

Till tomorrow and another Just Us Girls challenge!!

My Favorite Things Color Challenge

So there are new things happening with My Favorite Things!  They have a new blog run by the fabulous Susan Open from Papercrafts.  With new and fun challenges!  I'll admit I haven't played along in the old challenges but I'm getting started this year with some new MFT sets as well as some older ones and ones I know I have but can not find!  I think I still have some of the "headless" girls from years ago!

The current color challenge is:

Here is what I came up with using You're Super.

Unity Friends with Flair!

TGIF!  I'm excited to finally have something to share for UNITY Friends With Flair Friday!

I made this:

I used a stamp from the KOTM - Sept '14.  And all the frill is from Webster Pages.  What is this container you might ask....

I love recycling small boxes and creating cute boxes to store my crafty supplies!  I use Score Tape for the adhesive for the most part.  It works great to put the yardstick on and helps support the box actually.

Happy New Year - Seasons Giving Blog Hop!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I hope that you are hopping along and enjoying the 3rd year of the Seasons Givings Blog Hop! A big shout out to Latish who organizes this great hop each year, thank you!

I want to thank EVERYONE who comes to visit my blog I am grateful for all the views and comments.  I LOVE being a part of a great community of stampers/crafters who encourage one another!

I am looking forward to a fabulous and crafty 2015! I will continue working with some Design Teams and hope maybe there will be others! I want to bring more fun features here to my blog as well!

*********************************************************************************

Today I have a few things I'd love to share with you guys.  It's the first of the month which means a new challenge is up over at Mixed Media Mojo.  This is a blog I started this year with a few crafty friends, it's been a blast and I hope it continues to thrive and grow! If you love adding mixed media to your creations come visit us Blog Mixed Media Mojo and our FB page.  We are having fun sharing creations and tutorials.  This month's challenge is the theme: NEW and the twist is: the number 15.

This card I made is also for this month's challenge at The Mixed Media Card Challenge site which I'm proud to be a part of of the Design Team.  The challenge there is similar using the Theme" NEW and Optional Element: Tissue Paper.

Here is what I came up with:

I used an owl from a Unity Stamp Co. KOTM, Tissue paper from a Christy Tominlinson pack and the sentiment and date I used computer fonts and printed them.

Here are some of my steps:

For the Number 15 for Mixed Media Mojo I used the date 2015 but also used 15 pieces of ripped up tissue paper on the piece of yardstick to create a background. Used a gloss gel to adhere and seal.

Tissue glued

I stamped and colored the owl using watercolors.  Later I added a little Wink of Stella for sparkle.

I added some distress inks to the tissue paper once dried and mounted it and the owl on black paper.

I also want to share a little bit about my December.  Each year you may have heard of crafters participating in the December Daily.  I have for a few years.  One year I did a small chipboard style book for a handful of days in December. Then in 2012 I decided to do my Dec Daily scrapbooking style and picked 8 1/2 x 11 size and did create a page a day but did it VERY simple.  Which I loved!  In 2013 I was more interested in Mixed Media so I decided to create a mixed media "scrapbook style" page each day.  I used a journal book for this.  That year I got to around Mid December and fizzled out.  This year I got back on the wagon to go at it again.  But I have to tell you I wasn't too sure I was going to do it.

For 2014 I couldn't decide if A. I was going to do one, B. If I did what size? and C. I need to make it easy and doable.  In the end I picked up an unfinished 8 1/4 x 9 sized binder.  Similar to the Simple Stories and Recollection ones they sell at Michael's.  This binder I found at Hobby Lobby.  I decorated it very simple on the outside and then I was ready.

I did a page for Thanksgiving to and a day or two after to start then it was all of December.  I'm sure I will add a page for New Year's Eve as well.  Again I went with a super simple theme throughout and used a lot of my Christmas papers I had in my stash and stickers.

Here is a video slideshow of my Dec Daily

As a thank you I am offering a little prize package to one lucky random winner.  Winner to be announced Monday Jan 5.
