Gina K CSS for August Challenge

It's that time and the lovely Gina K. has issued this month's CSS challenge. The challenge this month is to pick one of her Stamp TV videos and make a project using the technique. I'm so psyched I got to play this month. How cool would it be to make the CSS design team and be Gina's guest designer for August!

I picked the spotlighting technique for my card. This fabulous technique can be seen HERE. You have to check out Gina's video's they are really awesome. Even if you are familiar with the technique she shows you, I promise you will still want to watch. She does an amazing job with all the videos.

For this technique I decided to use the set called Pretty as a Peacock. I decided to use the peacock stamped in black and accent his lovely feathers.

Here is what I came up with:

here is a closeup of her feathers, I used glitter spica pens.

I used Gina K Passionate Pink paper and my green I believe was SU. The buttons are from the Gina K, I believe called Spring Mix. My pattern paper is DeLovely by Cosmo Cricket.

Well fingers crossed! Hey you never know!

Thanks for stopping by!

Till later!

JUGS Template Challenge is HERE....

Growing In Unity WINNERS!

I want to thank everyone who stopped by all week and left such wonderful comments! I appreciate each and every one! Thank you so much, it's always a blast to share all my Unity creations!

So before it's over this week I have one more thing to show you. It's the beginning of a project so it's a work in progress. I had a Creative Imaginations Tag book in my drawer and decided to try and use it. I've had this idea to use the fabulous sentiments and quotes that Unity has to create an inspiration book. So I started this tag book. To start I covered each page in beautiful Webster's Pages which I think gives it such a beautiful look.

Here is a snippet of what I've done so far....

Now I know you are waiting for the winners of course! LOL! I picked two random winners from all my comments:

1. Winner of a Unity Kit courtesy of the fabulous Angela - Emily Keaton. Congrats EMILY!

2. Winner of an Ippity Kit courtesy of me - Rachel. Congrats RACHEL!

Winners please contact me riaann at optonline dot net.

Thanks again to everyone!!! If you want to be a part of GROWING IN UNITY be sure to come to the sign up thread in the Unity Forum.

Till later!

Just Us Girls - Template Challenge and Sponsor

This week is template week with JUST US GIRLS and we have a fabulous sponsor - Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs! This week there is a $10 gift certificate up for grabs for one lucky participate. The challenge is make a project using a template and Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs offers up one for FREE! SO BE SURE TO CHECK IT OUT HERE and play along!

I almost didn't think I was going to get something together this week. It was a rough week. Tuesday was my birthday and I went out with the kids a bit during the day. But when we got home they got sick, stomach bug sick! Not fun for any of us. Then yesterday I started to feel a bit under the weather. I didn't get anything real bad like they did but I did go to bed early. So finally today I printed the template and got to work and unfortunately had to take my picture at night! I have to say the kids loved this little template also I had to make a few of these boxes for them!

I worked with the matchbox template. I really love this little box and think I would use it again.

Here it is open, I put a box of buttons inside. My images on the outside are by Unity Stamp Co.

Sorry about the poor photos! If anyone can make some good suggestions for taking pictures late at night I want to hear it! LOL! I have a decent camera but I might need some lessons.

Anyhow, be sure to swing on by the blogs of the JUGS DT and leave them some love! I know they will have some fabulous stuff to share with you!

Day 6: Growing in Unity and Friends with Flair Friday

Day 4 of Growing in Unity! In case you don't know what Growing in Unity is all about it's a way for those who love Unity stamps to share their Unity creations and be in the spotlight for a week. This was started a long time ago and recently passed on to me to organize and I am so happy to be a part of it. If you want to be a part of the fun check out this thread in the Unity SCS forum for more details.

Alrighty, it's Friday! It was a crazy week for me at home, with my birthday and 2 sick kids the night of my birthday. Sigh... Now I'm feeling a little icky so hopefully it's not going to hit me like it did them! They had the stomach bug so NOT good!

Anyhow, I promised I'd show you my stamping on Canvas. I did get some painters canvas at Home Depot and stamped on it. It doesn't look good! I might share one page though just for giggles so you can laugh at me! :-)

However I did have canvas boards. You know what I mean? You can get them in the painting section and they come in all sorts of sizes. I was never into painting or anything but I assume it's commonly used by painters. I decided to start with the smallest one I have 4x6 and get going. I painted it white first, then sprayed glimmer mists on it. The glimmer mist didn't seem like it "liked" to be on that board so I scrapped it away which left my resulting color and I left it. Here it is:

So here is one of the pages using the canvas drop cloth:

So my Week with Unity is coming to a close. I'm glad I grabbed another week for myself it was fun. The last time I did this was almost 2 years ago! This weekend I will announce our winners. I'm going to try and have another project tomorrow if I can, so I will plan to annouce the winners on Sunday! So if you have been leaving comments be sure to stop by. Thanks to everyone who came by to check out my projects this week, I truly appreciate it!!

Day 5 - Growing in Unity

Day 5 of Growing in Unity!

Today I "altered" a door hanger. This is a wooden unfinished door hanger you can get at Michael's for $1.00. I painted it with white acrylic paint and then covered it using this cool paper. I used modge podge as my adhesive and used it over the paper as well to seal and give it a shine. For both projects today I used the "SHE" kit. I used the fabulous quote from it on both projects. I just love this one. My flowers are Prima and the buttons are SU. I used Momento Dew Drops to achieve the multi colored look on the quote.

I just love that blue and green together so vibrant I think. I love this door hangers. I made one a while ago and my 4 year daughter took and has hanging on her door. For that one I used some sort of fun animal image I think. But for $1 the possibilities are endless with this and makes a cool little gift.

Here it is again actually hanging on a door handle, I wasn't sure which photo came out better so I'm using both:

So with the left over paper I covered a little composition book. Now can I ask why don't they make those black and white composition books hard anymore? Remember when the full sized ones where hard backs and didn't bend etc. I have a few still on hand for altering but in the stores now they are soft! What the kids are beating each other up with them?? LOL!

Anyhow, this is a small compo book which measures 3.5" x 4.5":

Be sure to swing by all week for a chance to win a Unity Kit just by leaving a comments. I will also toss in an IPPITY Kit from my stash as well! SOOO, THERE WILL BE TWO WINNERS THIS WEEK FOR MY GIU!! I will select a random winner and announce it next weekend!

If you are looking for a challenge be sure to swing on by the Unity Challenge forum for the newest Unity Addicts Challenge.

Well check back tomorrow as I hope to have something stamped on canvas. I tried with a canvas drop cloth from home depot per the fabulous Angie Blom, but it didn't turn out as nice as I hoped. I might share it anyhow, along with some stamping on canvas board I got at Michael's! :-)

Well that's all for now!

Thanks for stopping by!

Treehouse Challenge Thursday - Watercoloring

It's Thursday and time for another Treehouse Stamps Challenge. This week fellow DT member Gloria has given us a watercoloring challenge! This turned out to be a bigger challenge for me than I thought but in the end I used the July contest image for my card:

My picture could be better but were having storms yesterday when I was finishing this and needed a picture.

Day 4 - Growing in Unity - Unity Addicts Challenge

Day 4 of Growing in Unity! In case you don't know what Growing in Unity is all about it's a way for those who love Unity stamps to share their Unity creations and be in the spotlight for a week. This was started a long time ago and recently passed on to me to organize and I am so happy to be a part of it. It's Wednesday which means Day 4 of my GIU week but it also means a new Unity Addicts Challenge! I'm so thrilled to be the Unity Customer Challenge Coordinator, I've loved Unity forever! All the girlies involved with Unity are so super sweet and fabulous.

This week the challenge is called "Poppin Flowers" (yes I am coming up with the corny names myself, just trying to make it fun!)Use any Unity/Ippity flower but it make "pop". Whether you use dimensionals, a fun coloring technique, whatever you can think of that will have your flowers "pop" off the page.

I went somewhat simple and used pop dots to create a layer with my flowers. My daughter got a necklace at the zoo and they gave her a gift box with it. SO, I took that box and used it to make a little set of notecards. (ok I only made two cards so far at least...)

The box:

Day 3 - Growing in Unity All Week Long

Day 3 of Growing in Unity!

For today I was going to make a birthday card, but I'm not huge on doing that sort of stuff for myself! LOL! Which is sort of odd because I love birthdays! Yes I'm celebrating my birthday today, maybe hitting a stamp or scrapbook store will be in order! So instead of anything birthday related I have I have two somewhat simple projects to show you :-)

We all know how fabulous all the Unity sentiments, sayings and quotes are right? Well I thought some would work well as a simple magnet. The sayings are from some recent kits and the background is from the June store kit. I used Stazon inks and a round strong magnet on the back. My base for these magnets - bathroom tiles!

So while on the topic of making Unity magnets I'm going to share another "blast from the past" project (I hope you don't mind) where I made cute magnets using the Birds of a Feather kit. This was during the time I LOVED stickles (well ok I still do love them), had to have it on EVERYTHING! Worked well on the magnets!
My second project is a cool one making use of a tissue box. I have taken boxes and altered them fairly often. Then a while back Gina K showed a tutorial on altering a tissue box and I loved how she did it. Since them I've been collecting my tissue boxes! LOL! Here is one I made which came out pretty simple using the fabulous Becoming Butterfly quote which I love!

Close up of the quote:

Well off I go to figure out what to do today, take the kids and go for a ride maybe. I do know though my husband got me a Unity Gift Certificate, horray! And the kids (4 years old) picked out something at the store for me, so I can't wait to see what that is.

Well that's all for now!

Unity Stamp Co Tuesday Inspiration!
